Wrapped in the contemporary exterior styling that has come to define recent Ocean Alexander<\/a> and Evan K. Marshall collaborations, the new OA 28E<\/a> is a striking presence to behold. Featuring a semi-displacement hull form designed by Italian naval architect Giuseppe Arrabito, the 28E shares the same DNA as the evolved 30R<\/a> model from the builder\u2019s spacious Revolution Series, which was first introduced to the market in 2018. What distinguishing factors make this cruiser stand out? A vertical plumb bow for oceangoing performance and an oversize high-low swim platform complete with a starboard-side fold-down door for multipurpose watersports activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depths (And Shallows) Discovered<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Displacement hulls affording voluminous interiors are having their day in the sun. Ocean Alexander\u2019s design and engineering teams have taken the concept a step further with the 28E\u2019s semi-displacement hull form, which features a half-tunnel underside that reduces draft to as shallow as 4 feet at full load. This, coupled with the builder\u2019s signature oversize shafts, rudder and drive-train systems, results in a comfortable cruising performance that affords exploration of the shallower waters found in the Caribbean and Bahamas. The design \u2014 propelled by twin MAN V-12 1,650 hp engines \u2014 affords up to a 2,000 nm range at a modest 7-knot cruise, while the range is roughly 1,200 nm closer to 10 knots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Space to Relax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new 28E\u2019s hull and profile design allow for an extremely spacious interior that affords a four- to five-stateroom layout. Vast swaths of windows made possible by the builder\u2019s alloy I-beam roof-structure construction lend an imposing presence to the 94-foot-7-inch yacht and invite boundless natural light into the interior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bright and airy feel is immediately apparent in the main salon, where the large frameless windows \u2014 coupled with the light-oak woodwork and muted tones of the \u201cNovus Mist\u201d decor package \u2014 enhance the open, beach-house vibe. Clients can select from multiple interior finishes, color schemes and wood choices, while loose custom furniture by Italian manufacturer Poltrona Frau adds to the flow and individuality of the space. That flow continues forward to the midship dining area with a formal table for 10. A well-equipped galley is situated behind the forward bulkhead, which can be amended with a large opening to integrate the galley with the salon when desired. The foyer, day head and master stateroom are positioned farthest forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forward main-deck master stateroom is an increasingly popular feature of this size range. Aboard the 28E, this takes advantage of the yacht\u2019s 20-foot-8-inch beam most efficiently. Highlighted by a large, clear roof panel above the bed that increases the natural light in the space, the master suite features a large his-and-hers walk-in closet to starboard and an en suite bathroom with heated floors and dual washbasins to port. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the lower deck, guest accommodations can be configured to the client\u2019s preference, with the option for a second master suite amidships, a VIP in the bow with a walk-in closet and walk-around island bed, and two convertible twin cabins. Or clients can select mirrored queen staterooms in lieu of a full-beam second master. One of the twin cabins can be converted into a gym, office or utility room. Crew quarters are positioned aft of the engine room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Play on the Water<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Ocean Alexander 28E offers either an enclosed or open-bridge layout termed the New Generation Pilothouse (NGP). Designed by Marshall, the NGP configuration features a protected and covered bridge outfitted with Garmin products, Hatteland touchscreens and Octoplex control systems, with an open side profile that flows aft to create an immense boat deck area. This space can be fitted with a four-person Jacuzzi, barbecue, wet bar with refrigerator, and custom loose furnishings. Sun awnings protect this space and all decks, including the foredeck, which is designed as a separate lounging area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The yacht\u2019s tender and jet skis can either stow on the boat deck aft and launch via davit, or be retrieved by a side crane and carried on the swim platform. The extended aft transom, the piece de resistance <\/em>for the new 28E, brings guests to the water in comfort. The builder elected to forgo a beach club or internal lounge at this level and instead created a large open platform with a hydraulic swim platform that lowers into the water. To starboard, fold-down bulwarks extend the sea-level real estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
