The yacht was delivered to its owners in June. It spent the summer in the Mediterranean \u201ctuning up for racing,\u201d according to the shipyard, and has now crossed the Atlantic. <em>Nilaya<\/em> arrived in Antigua in December\u2014with about three months to prepare for the March 2024 St. Barths Bucket Regatta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fast Atlantic crossing, according to Royal Huisman, \u201cgave her owner and pro race team captain Bouwe Bekking and skipper Romke Loopik plenty of all-conditions experience at the helm.\u201d There are already 10,000 nautical miles under the yacht\u2019s keel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The owner says his previous yacht, a 112-foot Baltic, won many regattas during the 12 years he owned it, but for this <em>Nilaya<\/em>, he instructed the yard and designers to create \u201ca fast yacht that can win in a superyacht regatta.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n        <section class=\"hydra-container\">\n\n\t\t\t                <div class=\"hydra-canvas\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2-1024x526.jpg\" class=\"hydra-image\" alt=\"Royal Huisman Nilaya\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2-1024x526.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2-300x154.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2-768x394.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2-1536x789.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2-50x26.jpg 50w, https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Nilaya-2.jpg 2000w\" \/>                <\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n            <figcaption class=\"caption margin_top_xs full border_1 hydra-figcaption\">\n                <span class=\"hydra-image-caption\"><i>Nilaya<\/i> is definitely built for racing, but it&#8217;s also designed for comfort.<\/span>\n                <span class=\"article_image_credit italic margin_right_xs\">Courtesy Royal Huisman<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t            <\/figcaption>\n        <\/section>\n\t\t\n\n\n<p>To that end, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yachtingmagazine.com\/frers-design-and-royal-huisman-announce-pura-concept\/\">Royal Huisman<\/a> says it built <em>Nilaya<\/em> using European Space Agency methodology. <em>Nilaya<\/em> is an aluminum-carbon hybrid designed with finite element analysis to direct the right material, or combination of materials, and the right thicknesses of those materials to handle the exact stresses in every part of the hull and deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For its part, Reichel\/Pugh analyzed 10 years of historical wave data from the Eastern Caribbean and Greece, ultimately testing 12 models before developing the final hull shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Royal Huisman\u2019s sister company Rondal was brought in for carbon-fiber expertise. And yet, even with the interior, light weight for racing was top of mind. Some of the bulkheads and door frames are carbon. Instead of heavy insulation to reduce noise and vibration, Royal Huisman developed composite panels made of cork, foam, honeycomb and other materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Royal Huisman, <em>Nilaya<\/em> is \u201carguably the most advanced sailing yacht\u201d the shipyard has ever delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n        <section class=\"hydra-container\">\n\n\t\t\t                <div owners\u2019 project manager, Nigel Ingram of MCM Newport. \u201cThey really chased the details.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now, we all shall see if <em>Nilaya<\/em> leaves other yachts chasing its
